Charles Preston "Tommy" Thompson

Tommy Thompson , 90, of Fallon, Nevada, died January 19, 2024 at Northern Nevada Sierra Medical Center in Reno, NV. Tommy was born April 16, 1933 in Lancaster, South Carolina, to Ellarie Thompson. He was later adopted by his step-father, Alonzo Buchanan.

Tommy grew up in Durham, North Carolina, in a home that he helped his father build. He worked at Dean’s grocery store as a teenager,and joined the United States Air force at 17 years old.

The military took Tommy to Las Vegas, NV. where he met the love of his life, Joyce. The two were married in 1953 and together they had five children. They lived all over the Western states, until finally settling in Fallon in 1978. He held many jobs, including car salesman at Fallon Ford.

Tommy loved cars ! He took up drag racing and had many classic cars that he restored and took to car shows around the area. He was also an avid golfer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Joyce Thompson; daughter, Jeri Lynn Thompson; daughter-in-law, Lorri Thompson; siblings, Vester; James; Dwight; Marshall; Waldo; Edna and Anna.

Tommy is survived by his children, Teri (Ronny) Albright; Donald (Kim) Thompson; Kelly Thompson; Tracy Milburn; siblings, Jackie Duke; Frances Boisvert and Arnold Buchanan; 13 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

A Service to Celebrate Tommy’s life will be held on Saturday, February 10th at 11:00 A M at The Gardens Funeral Home 2949 Austin Highway Fallon, NV 89406
