Debra L. Rister

August 6, 1957 — November 12, 2015

Debra L Rister, 58, passed away Thursday, Nov. 12, in Renton, WA.

Born in Taft, Calif., on Aug. 16, 1957, Deb was the eldest of three children. Rarely spotted without a good book in hand, Deb was an impassioned reader with an unquenchable thirst for knowledge. With a Master's Degree in Special Education from Chapman University and Bachelor's in Psychology from UC Riverside, she had a passion for helping others learn. Deb found her calling as a National Board Certified high school teacher in Special Education and taught at Aldea Group home and Vacaville High School. With a razor sharp wit, Deb's feisty and caring personality shined daily as she loved her family, empowered her students, and found fellowship with other teachers and friends.

Left to honor Deb are her husband, Rex MacLean; parents, Don and Margaret Rister; step-children, Mike MacLean, Matt Melendez, Ian MacLean, and Lauren Draper; sister, Kathy Morlan; brother, Scott Rister; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Family, friends, and others whose lives Deb touched are invited to her memorial service at The Gardens Funeral Home, 2949 Austin Hwy, Fallon, NV 89406, beginning at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 28. Please join us as we grieve, support each other and, of course, remember the amazing woman Deb was.
