Florence Prudence Douglas

October 5, 1947 — June 6, 2025

Florence ‘Skipper’ Douglas passed away peacefully at home on June 6th surrounded by family.

Born October 5th 1947 in Grandview, Texas.

Skipper met Drew in Long Beach California and were married April 26th, 1969.

Skipper spent her life in service of others.

Settling in Empire Nevada following many years supporting her family’s military service.

Raising her family included many selfless and giving acts including establishing a youth baseball league that was enjoyed by the entire community for years. This included being the head coach of the Dynamite Dodgers which provided many area kids opportunities not available before.

She was, at the time one of the only female Boy Scout leaders in the country. Also an EMT for many years supporting the surrounding area. Skipper was involved in many aspects of our lives, from being the town’s Santa Claus, Easter Bunny, setting up Halloween haunted houses, and providing anything needed for any fund raiser for any cause. She never missed a school function or sporting event for which she was probably the statistician.

Skipper’s willingness to give back was unmatched and she will be remembered by all that knew her.

She is now with the love of her life, Drew, but will never be forgotten by all the lives she touched.

Proceeded in death by parents Robert Gordon Lester and Cornelia Frances Young, loving husband Andrew Nolan Douglas and daughter Angela Constance Douglas.

Survived by sons Nolan (Jen) Douglas, Scott Douglas, sisters Judy Coates and Susan Tipton, as well as grandchildren Bonnie Longoria, Ragan Goering, Cameron Matzen, Camden Goering, Andrew Douglas, Kaden Douglas, and Kenny Douglas.
