Gwendolyn Anne Smith Thacker

August 20, 1943 — October 26, 2021

Gwendolyn Anne Smith Thacker, surrounded by several family members, returned to our father in heaven on September 26th, 2021. She was born on August 20th, 1943 in Buffalo, New York. At nine months old they moved to Reno, Nevada. A longtime resident of northern Nevada, she lived her life as an educator, avid horseman and lover of animals.

She married the love of her life Willam Alan Thacker on May 2nd, 1963 and they were sealed in the Boise, Idaho Temple on June 13th, 1986. Known as a loving daughter, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, she was preceded in death by her parents Oliver Marshall Smith & Gertrude Norma (Drew) Smith, brothers Howard & Melvin Smith, sister Clara May Smith & Husband William Alan. She is survived by daughters Phaline Anne Conklin (John) of Aberdeen, SD and Krystal Raye Thacker (Caroline) of Pahrump; and sons William Shane Thacker (Bobbi) of Las Vegas, and Corey Alan Thacker (Jennifer) of Minden; grandchildren Toni, Cheyna, Trudie, Morgen, Will, Jacob, Shaylyn, Hattie, Christopher, Alexis, Austin, Caden, Layton, Ryan, and Jaxon; great-grandchildren Shoni, Ryder, Leelah, Kodah, Novaa, Khai and Makoa Jaymes; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services were held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints West Stake Center on North 5th Street in Elko on October 9th, 2021. Viewing was held at am at the church.
