William Alanson "Lanny" Scofield, 75, passed away at home on December 28, 2025, in Fallon, NV. He was born April 3, 1950, in Oak Ridge, TN. He is preceded in death by his parents Robert and Barbara Scofield of Kingston. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Gloria, and his siblings Paula Kaye and Tara, both from Lithia Springs, GA; Robb of Bethlehem, GA; and Debbie of Colorado Springs, CO. Lanny was a 1969 graduate from RCHS. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1970, teaching and training maintenance on the A7E light weight bomber aircraft. Later he was assigned to the fleet introduction team for the F/A18 Super Hornet. He served on the USS Oriskany and USS Coral Sea. He also served in Vietnam stationed at the Da Nang Air Station. He retired from the Navy after 21 years and achieved the rank of Senior Chief Petty Officer. After retirement from the Navy, he continued to work in the civilian sector for the Navy until he retired again in 1991. He was a resident of Fallon, NV for 40 years.
